For the life of me I cannot draw!<\/h2>\n

I can take a half decent photo but what I truly \u200eexcel at is taking a collection of photos and or videos and making a collage. I \u200ewas the one who prepared the video clips for all of my children\u2019s bar mitzvahs. \u200eI am thrilled to create these projects. Bursts of creativity flame my passions; \u200ethese are the times that I am lost within its meditative powers! \u200eWhat I do find problematic, however, is dealing with the lingering questions in \u200ethe back of my mind: firstly, at what stage do I say \u201ccut\u201d and decide that I have \u200eenough material for my project and secondly, the ongoing battle between \u200ebeing \u201cpresent\u201d at the event and being behind the lens;<\/p>\n

On which side of the \u200elens should I be?\u200e<\/h3>\n

While my children were growing up, it was very important for me to create \u200ephotographic mementos of every event, trip, party or performance. At times \u200eI felt a spectator, missing out on once in a lifetime moments:<\/p>\n

Being in the lens \u200eand out of the frame!<\/h3>\n

\u200eLast week I was blessed by my daughter Naava\u2019s presence in my Nia class. \u200eWhat a joy it was to dance with her!<\/p>\n

There are people whose presence brings \u200esmiles, warmth and magic into the room.<\/p>\n

Naava is one of those people! At the \u200eend of the class when all of the other students had gone and Naava and I were \u200ealone, I asked her how the class was for her. I was blown away by her \u200egenerous use of superlatives. I asked her if she would mind if I recorded what \u200eshe had to say. This is an honest to goodness translation of her words:\u200e<\/p>\n

What She Said (really)!<\/span><\/h2>\n

\u200e\u200e\u200eSo, Naava, how was it going to Nia with me tonight?\u200e<\/p>\n

\u200e\u200e\u200eAwesome\u200f.\u200f\u200e\u200e\u200e\u200e<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u200e\u200e\u200e\u200eAwesome?\u200e\u200e<\/p>\n

\u200e\u200e\u200eAwesome, yah.\u200e <\/strong>
\n\u200e\u200e\u200eDo we speak in English?\u200e\u200e<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u200e\u200e\u200e\u200eNo, you can speak in Hebrew.\u200e\u200e<\/p>\n

\u200e\u200e\u200eIt was strange. Suddenly I saw you in a different light. You practice (Nia) all the \u200etime at home. Aba has commented on this in the past and I, as well as everyone \u200eelse, agree with him that there has been definite improvement in your \u200emovement, your grace. Without warning, however, today I saw you in a \u200ecompletely different light! It was like: wow! Where are those moves coming \u200efrom?! I looked at you and thought there is no way that I will be able to \u200eduplicate those moves! I thoroughly enjoyed watching you move and just \u200ewanted to sit down and watch.\u200e\u200e\u200e<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n\u200e\u200e\u200eI would have brought a camera but that probably would have been too much \u200eand you probably would have gotten mad at me.\u200e\u200e\u200e<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u200e\u200e\u200e\u200eWas it strange dancing with Ema (Mom)?\u200e<\/p>\n

\u200e\u200e\u200eFirst of all it was strange watching Ema dancing like that. Strange to dance with \u200eEma? No, I am used to her \u201cshticks\u201d (from Yidish, a usually comic or repetitious \u200eperformance or routine). I had to get my \u201cshticks\u201d from someone, right?\u200e\u200e<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u200e\u200e\u200eAnd did you enjoy Nia?\u200e<\/p>\n

\u200e\u200e\u200eYes, I enjoyed it very much. I also enjoyed the company.\u200e<\/strong>
