In Hebrew \u201cdmai\u201d also may refer to dues. \u200e<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\">Sweet Stuff<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">A few years back we vacationed with my brother and his family. While \u200eexploring the funky town of Hood River, Oregon, my brother came \u200eback to the car with the coolest baseball cap ever: on its front was \u200estitched \u201cOld Guys Rule\u201d and on the back, the priceless \u201cThe older I \u200eget \u2026 The better I was\u201d.\u200e<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The older I get \u2026 The sweeter I was.\u200e<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">I\u2019ve seen sweeter days, I have.\u200e<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">I recall the norm in the kibbutz baby house was to put sugar water in \u200ebabies\u2019 bottles. At the same time in the nursery, toddlers were to be \u200efound toting bottles full of purple colored \u201cMitz Petel\u201d (made from a \u200eraspberry flavored sugary syrup concentrated goop).\u200e<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">I liked my cola and was a sucker for a Snicker\u2019s bar or a slice of cheese \u200ecake\u2026\u200e<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Hubby added three heaping teaspoons of sugar to his coffee\u2026\u200e<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Priceless, huh?!\u200e<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\">Illness Strikes<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hbne.co.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/sweet.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2331 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/hbne.co.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/sweet.jpg\" alt=\"sweet\" width=\"716\" height=\"535\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hbne.co.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/sweet.jpg 716w, https:\/\/hbne.co.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/sweet-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 716px) 100vw, 716px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Last week I had my girl Tziona\u2019s back as I accompanied her for a \u200echemotherapy treatment. As usual, I made sure to have plenty of \u200enutritious food on hand including vegetable patties, homemade trail \u200emix, apples and a green smoothie of course! Like me, Tziona is very \u200ehealth conscious. She had busied herself the night before preparing \u200evegan sushi with whole brown rice. We were well stocked and each of \u200eus had her own green smoothie in hand! We were armed and ready.\u200e<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">It was a good thing that we came prepared. It was a long long day. I \u200eleft the house at six in the morning and did not return until well after \u200eeight in the evening.\u200e<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Shell shocked, I entered the state of the art Assuta hospital of Ramat \u200eHa-Hayal, Tel Aviv. Not for nothing does its website proclaim: \u201cIsrael's \u200elargest and leading private hospital\u201d! Upon entering I was \u200eoverwhelmed with a very sweet welcome. Adjacent to the information \u200edesk was a very large storefront sign: Sweet(s). I made a note to \u200emyself to check it out later when I had some free time.\u200e<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">A few hours later sleeping beauty was out like a light, exhausted from \u200eher magical light potions. I took advantage of the breather and left to \u200eexplore and stretch my legs. Once again I found myself passing the \u200e&quot;sweet shoppe&quot;\u2026\u200e<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"http:\/\/hbne.co.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/goodies.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2333 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/hbne.co.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/goodies.jpg\" alt=\"goodies\" width=\"716\" height=\"179\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hbne.co.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/goodies.jpg 716w, https:\/\/hbne.co.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/goodies-300x75.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 716px) 100vw, 716px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">I cannot begin to find the words to express, neither the depth nor the \u200ebreadth, the wealth of the sweet choices packed into the tiny \u200estorefront. I felt a wave of anger stunning me from head to toe.\u200e<\/p>\n<h3 dir=\"ltr\">How could a \u201cleading hospital\u201d allow itself to greet its patients like \u200ethis?\u200e<\/h3>\n<h3 dir=\"ltr\">Was this the subliminal message behind its agenda?\u200e<\/h3>\n<h3 dir=\"ltr\">Continue to eat sweets. Don\u2019t worry; we\u2019ll be here to take care of you \u200ewhen you become ill\u2026\u200e<\/h3>\n<h3 dir=\"ltr\">Does a \u201cleader\u201d not have a moral responsibility for all who visit within \u200eits gates? Should the message not be more aligned with Lady \u200eLiberty\u2019s: \u201cI lift my lamp beside the golden door\u201d?\u200e<\/h3>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Tziona is a well-known health advocate. She frequently appears in the \u200emedia: news, radio and television. A few months ago she became ill \u200eand she used the social media to tell her story, her choices and her \u200emessage. I asked her permission to share here on my blog with you.\u200e<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We each follow our own path, choosing our way. Some of us follow \u200ethe more trodden path while others lead and forge their way. At any \u200egiven moment, at any particular junction, circumstances may change. \u200eHe who once followed may lead and she who once led may follow or \u200eanywhere on the spectrum in-between\u2026 \u200e<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\">In Search of Healing<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Her letter begins:\u200e<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Hello to everyone,\u200e<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">I have something important that I wish to share with you all, as it is \u200ehaving a big impact on my life and \u200ewill have an impact, I think, on \u200eyours too.\u200e<\/p>\n<h3 dir=\"ltr\">Never say never!!!\u200e<\/h3>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">I have been feeling very tired for the last year, and was waiting to do \u200esome functional medicine tests \u200eto try see what the problem was. This \u200ewas all complicated by the fact that I have a serious needle \u200ephobia. \u200e<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">At the end of July I contracted a stomach virus and landed up in \u200ehospital, and allowed the doctor to \u200edo a blood test. That\u2019s when the \u200ealarm bells went off. \u200e<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">After many tests and consultations, I was diagnosed with\u200f \u200fa form of \u200enon-Hodgkin\u2019s lymphoma. Of all \u200ethe 40 different kinds of lymphomas, \u200eI have the least virulent and most treatable kind. I had always said \u200eI \u200ewould never ever have chemo!<\/p>\n<h3 dir=\"ltr\">Well, never say never\u2026\u2026. \u200e<\/h3>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">After calls to various clinics and doctors \u200ewho are also in the alternative \u200emedical field, it became clear that the alternative treatments \u200efor \u200elymphoma only have a 30% success rate, and I was told to do the \u200echemo. \u200e<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">This was a huge shock for me and I did a lot of work on myself with \u200ewonderful friends and \u200etherapists, as I knew that I needed to change \u200ehow I thought about chemo and all the tablets I would \u200ehave to take, \u200eincluding cortisone. So I decided to call the chemo \u2013 \u201cmy magic light \u200epotion\u201d and imagine \u200ethis stream of light and love flowing into my \u200ebody and bringing me healing, love and joy. The same \u200ewith the \u200emedications I needed to take. \u200e<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"http:\/\/hbne.co.il\/?p=489\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Green smoothies \u2013 the best medicine! \u200e<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">I was very fortunate to find a wonderful professor and man who is my \u200edoctor, and who does not mock \u200eor belittle me for my beliefs, what I \u200eeat and the way I live, but is very respectful and open. I\u2019m \u200etruly \u200egrateful. I have been eating the food that I share with all of you, and \u200ehaving green smoothies \u200ealmost every day. A number of doctors were \u200eamazed that I was functioning and doing things all the \u200etime, even with \u200ea hemoglobin count of 7.9 (normal is around 12-14!). That meant I \u200ehad about \u200ehalf the blood of a normal adult in my body, and many \u200eother blood indexes were very low. My spleen was about 7 times that \u200eof a normal spleen.
