Love Was Meant For Beauty Queens<\/h1>\n

For a while there, my family and I were living in Southern California. \u200eOften, during school breaks, we would drive down to Baja California. \u200eAt the time it was a great place to vacation, an amazing seaside desert \u200eoasis. The views were striking, fresh and pristine. The radiant sunshine \u200efollowed us everywhere, highlighting the whites of the sands and the \u200eblues of the sea. It was a perfect paradise, a playground ideal for \u200e\u200e\u201cserious\u201d exploration. Much delight was discovered within the rocky \u200ecaves and cliffs by the sea and yet, somewhere within that picture \u200eperfect recollection, a crimson red cry threatens to blemish my \u200ememories. I can clearly recall sitting with my family in our car. As I \u200efinished the last of my Coke (shh\u2026!), I simply chucked the empty \u200e\u200e\u201cbiodegradable\u201d can out the car window!<\/p>\n

Heck, it would only be a \u200ematter of some 80, maximum 500 years until it would turn back to \u200edust\u2026.\u200e<\/h3>\n

Toss It!<\/h2>\n

We are a community of ample \u201cdisposable\u201d means. Every which way \u200ewe turn we are busy discarding our leftovers, never once hand me \u200edowns and other superfluous stuff. We hunger for more; hunting and \u200egathering much like our ancestors, only we never stop. Eventually we \u200ebecome overwhelmed by our loot and need to retreat and regroup. \u200eWe begin to sort and toss aside our trophies, keeping only the best of \u200ethe best. Our most invested efforts always centered around \u201cthe what \u200eto\u2019s\u201d and hardly ever \u201cthe how to\u2019s\u201d.<\/p>\n

We shop with our eyes. Behold! We see much beauty and cannot but \u200enot stop to take it in. We take it, all of it. Whether fashion, \u201ctoys\u201d, pretty \u200ethings or foodstuffs, we are overspent and squander our precious \u200ecommon resources\u2026. \u200e<\/p>\n

\u200e\u201cYou are what you eat.\u201d<\/strong> As a collective we eat much. We are a bunch \u200eof overachievers and overeaters. We have gone over the top! As we \u200eclimb up, much is discarded and tossed aside along the way.\u200e<\/p>\n

\u200e\u201cFood, glorious food\u201d, much of it is left by the wayside in the fields, on \u200ethe trees or simply does not make the cut further down the line.<\/p>\n

The \u200efate of the defective produce, the ugly, the deformed, the puny, the \u200egargantuan and the amputee (not to mention the bumper crop) is \u200edestined for but one design: the trash.\u200e<\/h3>\n

At the supermarket the selection continues. Wilted and tired produce \u200eis joined by the \u201cexpired\u201d death row elderly.\u200e<\/p>\n
