Once upon a time there lived a couple in love…<\/h2>\n

Not a penny to their \u200enames there was, but that would not stand in their way. They were \u200eboth highly successful and ahead of their time in their respective fields \u200eof choice. He was handsome, warm, joyful, ambitious and talented. \u200eShe was gorgeous, passionate, smart and on her way up and out. They \u200ehad four beautiful children and The American Dream was theirs for the \u200etaking. They began migrating west in a continual effort to climb yet \u200eanother step up.\u200e<\/p>\n

Somewhere along the way the dream shattered. The man and the \u200ewoman parted ways. What was once happiness and abundance was \u200ereplaced by longing and sickness: a fairy tale beginning, yes, but no \u200ehappily ever after.\u200e<\/strong><\/p>\n

I lost my father to severe arteriosclerotic heart disease at the young \u200eage of 54 my mother to Parkinson\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Chronic disease is but a product of the choices we \u200emake…<\/h2>\n

Bad lifestyle \u200echoices manifest themselves as chronic disease. These choices include \u200epoor nutrition, overeating, sedentary living and, of course, chronic \u200estress. In short: too much junk and not enough nourishment.\u200e<\/p>\n

Unlike acute disease, chronic disease sticks around for the \u200elong haul. Chronic disease occupies a stubborn and lengthy \u200etimeline. Chronic, from the root \u201cchron\u201d or the Greek word \u200e\u200e\u201cchronos\u201d, means time. According to Greek mythology, \u200eChronos (Kronos) was known as the destructive God of Time \u200ewho was able to use the past to devour the future. Such \u200e\u200e\u201cthrives\u201d chronic disease: our choices of past devouring the \u200efuture or at least its quality.\u200e<\/p>\n

Modern medicine excels at emergency medicine. The medical \u200estaff at the ER will quickly and efficiently weed through the \u200ecrowded waiting room tackling the broken bones, appendicitis, \u200eheart attack, burn victim, car crash survivor, terror attack \u200ecasualties and more. Chronic disease, however, is but a \u200ecolossal chronic headache.\u200e<\/p>\n

Prolific costs and chronic disease are bedmates: patient costs \u200eare high and productivity plummets. Treatment focuses on \u200esymptom management rather than disease management. A \u200evicious circle emerges: chronic illness, lost productivity, \u200esymptom management, more chronic illness\u2026 As little, if any, \u200eattention is given to the root of the problem, the poor lifestyle \u200echoices persist and chronic disease continues in its \u200edebilitating path.\u200e<\/p>\n

A vicious circle full of black magic it is, not a sparkle of pixie \u200edust to be found.<\/h3>\n

This circle came all too close to me and I will \u200ehave no part of it! I\u2019ve tasted the incredible magic of the secret \u200eworld of plants and discovered our powerful cosmic bodies and \u200ewill.\u200e<\/p>\n
