The Soundtrack of My Life
I love surprises! I know, I tell you this far too often. You’ve probably guessed by now: all that I’m searching for is some love and attention. The plain truth of the matter is that we all are.
What a little bit of love and attention can do to raise the spirits of each and every one of us…
Anticipation lives here. Surprises are everyone’s sweetheart until they disappoint. Repeatedly surprises don't live up to our expectations. More often than not, the perfect surprise is fabulously fictitious, yet another figment of our imaginations.
When did the word “sweet” become passé? Not only have sweets become synonymous with obesity, cavities and diabetes, but, the word will also be forever filed away as a cheap and easy stand-in for sincere words of the heart.
Shall I let you in on my sweet secret (please forgive my choice of language)?! In so much as divine sweetness is to be found in nature’s raw naked delights, no surprise could be sweeter than the fruit of our hands.
Time and time again I am surprised by my wheels’ abundant powers: the wheels of my brain spark with discovery together with each spin of my trusty steed’s 29ers (type of bike, size of wheels). Nine times out of ten, the seeds of my blog are sown here.
Saturday’s conversation wandered to previously uncharted territory as we began talking about the magical powers of music to weave enduring memories. From there on I busied myself foraging paired music memories, the soundtracks of my life. Much to my surprise all of the memories I retrieved were happy and uplifting ones. I could not find even one bad memory entwined to a song. I wondered if there were others like me.
We are unique you and I, as are the soundtracks of our lives. The musical notations are embedded deep within. The conductor awakens the sounds and silences of our memories releasing with full force the powers which pull at the strings of our hearts and erupt in rapture, pure smiles of joy and an uncensored freedance of celebration.
This is a choice compilation of the soundtracks of my life.
Happy Together
Who remembers the Turtles?! I can remember cruising down the Pacific Coast Highway with my au-par. Santa Monica above me, the beach directly to the west, the bright sun tracking us every bit of the way as Margret and I and some “turtles” sang our hearts out!

You Have a Friend
Oh Carole! I can clearly recall my first Habonim (youth movement) seminar. White Rock, British Columbia was where I discovered Carole King. Till this very day I am a huge fan of hers. On my birthday about three years ago I had the pleasure of seeing her Broadway musical “Beautiful” which is based around her life and music. Her soundtrack was mine. Please accept my apologies if you were put off by my singing along with the cast!
Making Beautiful Music: "You've Got a Friend" | BEAUTIFUL – THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL
Go into the recording studio with Broadway's Jessie Mueller (Carole King), Anika Larsen (Cynthia Weil) and Jarrod Spector (Barry Mann) as they put their mark on the rich legacy of timeless music featured in BEAUTIFUL — THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL.
Abbey Road
After we moved to Canada we were able to spend our winter breaks in our old house in Malibu. We spent much time in the Westwood area by UCLA. It was there that I purchased my first LP album, the illustrious Abbey Road. Till this day each song on the album plays with my heart.

Hey Jude
The memory of my first slow dance will be forever intertwined with the sounds of this epic song. I can even remember my partner’s name. Randy Dashwood, do you remember me too?! Ah, the runaway endorphins and emotions of first love…
The Beatles – Hey Jude
The Beatles 1 Video Collection is out now. Available on: http://www.thebeatles.com/ Hey Jude topped the charts in Britain for two weeks and for 9 weeks in America, where it became The Beatles longest-running No.1 in the US singles chart as well as the single with the longest running time.
Ani V’ata
You and I (will change the world). We were passionate youth with a passionate vision. We were going to change the world! This song brings me back fond memories of camp.
Moondance
Dad had a sleek sports car. With his large music collection and homemade stereo, Dad was an enthusiastic music connoisseur. Classical and jazz music were his favorites. Sometimes I was graced and given his “Z” on loan. I can clearly recall speeding down Interstate 5 with the sunroof open and Van Morrison’s magical music ramped up on the stereo. The sounds of Moondance could be heard for miles and miles…

Faster Faster (Chazak Chazak)
I can fondly remember the days when hubby ran alongside our eldest’s first two wheeler and sang this song of his creation (first and last).
Rolling Laughter
Our youngest daughter had the most remarkable laughter. How fortunate are we: at any moment we can play a video which showcases her laughter!
These are but choice picks of the soundtracks of my life. I must confess that this musical stroll down memory lane echoes deep within my very being.
My music, my muse: divine powers hath yee.
Music has the power to uplift our spirits, strengthen our memories, connect ourselves, relax our tired bodies and even improve our concentration and learning potential.

Alive Inside: How the Magic of Music Proves Therapeutic for Patients With Alzheimer's and Dementia
http://www.democracynow.org – Could a pair of headphones change the lives of millions of Americans suffering from Alzheimers and dementia? "Alive Inside: A Story of Music & Memory," a new documentary at the Sundance Film Festival, follows a social worker named Dan Cohen who has launched a campaign to bring iPods and music therapy to nursing homes.
When was the last time that you allowed music to breathe life into your soul?
“Music does bring people together. It allows us to experience the same emotions. People everywhere are the same in heart and spirit. No matter what language we speak, what color we are, the form of our politics or the expression of our love and our faith, music proves: We are the same.” ~ John Denver
